Therapies
-
A collaborative approach which identifies the links between our thoughts, our feelings, and what we do, and how we can become trapped in negatively reinforced cycles.
Focuses on how to disrupt these cycles in the present by changing the way we think or what we do in response to triggering situations and difficult feelings.
Longer-term change comes from understanding what negative beliefs we have held about ourselves that led us to these cycles in the first place. The aim is to build more realistic and helpful beliefs to create new, healthier patterns of thoughts and behaviours.
-
Helps people process and heal from problematic or traumatic memories through guided eye or hand movements.
Through processing, the emotional intensity of the memory reduces and we can safely file the memory away with a more adaptive way of viewing what happened to us.
This leads to a change in how we feel now and into the future, being able to face previously triggering situations with a sense of calm and confidence.
-
CBT approach focusing specifically on dismantling the thoughts, feelings, and behavioural patterns that can maintain disordered eating and body image difficulties.
-
A cognitive interpersonal therapy specifically for adults with Anorexia Nervosa.
Focus is on understanding the function of the Anorexia in the person’s life, and empowering them to develop confidence in managing emotions, relationships and their building their own identity outside of the Anorexia.
