about me

I’m Sophie and I’ve been a BABCP accredited therapist for over 10 years.

My favourite thing about what I do is seeing people surprise themselves with just how much they can change and grow through the therapy process, even when at the beginning it all feels impossible.

I started my career in the North East of England in NHS talking therapies services before moving to South London to complete further training to help people with depression, trauma, anxiety and self-esteem.

I have since specialised in helping people recover from Eating Disorders and I currently work as a senior therapist in the NHS Maudsley Adults Eating Disorders Service.

I am trained in the following approaches:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • CBT-Enhanced for Eating Disorders

  • Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA)

My approach as a therapist is collaborative, compassionate and motivational. Alongside traditional practices, I like to integrate creative ways of working, such as letter-writing, imagery, and chair work and I often draw on principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I am really excited to now be offering EMDR-enhanced coaching!
This is a new and innovative approach which combines the future focus and motivational style of coaching with the effectiveness and deeper level therapeutic benefits of EMDR. Check out more about this here.

My other passion in my work is clinical supervision. Over the years I have been privileged enough to work with some incredible people, investing in their development and confidence as therapists. Knowing that they’re out there making waves and helping people live the lives they deserve is a source of huge pride and satisfaction for me!
